OUR STORY

In November 2013, the Philippines was devastated by the deadliest typhoon recorded in history -Typhoon Haiyan. Locally known as typhoon “Yolanda” in the Philippines, it has caused major catastrophic damage throughout much of the islands of Leyte; where cities and towns were washed away, with many buildings being destroyed, trees knocked over and livelihood becomes a conflict. Many help the communities and now, we take our part. With the success of our pioneer footwear brand Tribu, and as a response to the need of helping the environment, Ligid was born.

The increasing demands of motorcycles and other vehicles will only lead to more waste. Over 13.5 million tons of scrap tires are continuously being disposed every day. These wastes contributes to the pollution of our earth and water. The desire to act in response to the growing problem of toxic scrap tire wastages fueled our passion to create a new revolutionary brand that offers comfortable and durable footwear.

The soles of each pair of LIGID sandals is made from used tires crafted to transform into a fashion-forward lifestyle footwear.
